Leaf Spot and Stem Rot on Wilford Swallowwort Caused by Stemphylium lycopersici in Korea
In June 2012, leaf spot and stem rot were observed on Wilford Swallowwort plants grown in Cheonan, Korea. Three fungal isolates obtained from the diseased leaves and stems were identified as Stemphylium lycopersici, based on morphological, cultural, and molecular characteristics and pathogenicity. This is the first report of leaf spot and stem rot on Wilford Swallowwort caused by S. lycopersici.
متن کاملPopulation structure of Stemphylium lycopersici associated with leaf spot of tomato in a single field
Stemphylium lycopersici is an important pathogen causing leaf spot of tomatoes worldwide. Although much information is available about the pathogen, little is known about dynamics of S. lycopersici in tomato fields. Seventy-nine symptomatic leaf samples were collected from two tomato cultivars grown in a farm (Miral and Inbred line). Fungal species associated with the disease were isolated on p...
متن کاملRapid Biosynthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Pepino (Solanum muricatum) Leaf Extract and Their Cytotoxicity on HeLa Cells
Within nanotechnology, gold and silver nanostructures have unique physical, chemical, and electronic properties [1,2], which make them suitable for a number of applications. Moreover, biosynthetic methods are considered to be a safer alternative to conventional physicochemical procedures for both the environmental and biomedical applications, due to their eco-friendly nature and the avoidance o...
متن کامل‘Valencia’: A New Pepino (Solanum muricatum) Cultivar with Improved Fruit Quality
Pepino (Solanum muricatum Aiton), also known as melon-pear, is a vegetatively propagated vegetable crop grown for its juicy and aromatic fruit. Great variation in fruit weight, shape, and color can be found among cultivars of pepino (Anderson et al., 1996; Heiser, 1985). Despite being an important crop in Pre-Columbian times in the Andean region, it has not achieved the same relevance as other ...
متن کاملThe kind of pollination and ability to parthenocarpy of pepino (Solanum muricatum Ait.)
The objective of the research was to assess a grade of parthenocarpic fruit and fruitsetting following cross-pollination and self-pollination in pepino plants (Solanum muricatum Ait.). An experiment with six pepino clones of different origin was set up in glasshouse conditions. Experimental clones were subjected to the following treatments: self-pollination, cross-pollination, and emasculation ...
